North Carolina quarterback Max Johnson plans to return to the Tar Heels in 2025 following a season-ending injury.

Johnson suffered a season-ending injury in October and will miss the remainder of the 2023 season.

The redshirt junior announced his decision to return to UNC on social media, saying that he is "excited to get back on the field with my teammates and compete for a championship." Johnson completed 62.3% of his passes for 2,280 yards, 19 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2022.

Johnson's Return a Boost for UNC Offense

Johnson's return is a boost for the UNC offense, which struggled in his absence.

The Tar Heels went 1-4 in Johnson's absence, with Drake Maye starting at quarterback.

Maye has thrown for 1,295 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions in Johnson's absence.
