Argentina marches into Copa America final with 2-0 victory over Canada
Messi and Alvarez secure win for defending champions
Argentina booked their place in the Copa America final after goals from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi gave them a comfortable 2-0 victory over Canada in the semi-final on Tuesday. Defending champions Argentina will now face either Brazil or Peru in the final on Saturday. Alvarez opened the scoring in the 14th minute, tapping in from close range after Messi's shot was saved by Canada goalkeeper Milan Borjan. Messi doubled the lead in the 28th minute with a stunning free-kick from the edge of the area. Canada pushed for a goal in the second half but were unable to find a way past Argentina'så …å›ºçš„defense. The victory was Argentina's third in a row in this year's Copa America, and they will be looking to add to their record-equaling 14th title on Saturday.
